QUTTOUF is an Egyptian company specialising in the cultivation and production of date palms, with particular focus on Medjool palms and modern varieties of high economic value.
We approach date palm cultivation not as a traditional agricultural activity, but as a specialised agricultural industry — one that demands precise knowledge of soil, water, nutrition, irrigation and pollination, along with bunch and fruit management, and an understanding of the palm’s growth stages and the factors shaping the volume and quality of its yield.
Our specialisation in Medjool palms
Medjool sits at the forefront of our work, given its high market value and the growing demand for it in both local and international markets.
Through field experience and the study of results across successive seasons, we focus on understanding the factors that shape Medjool yield and quality: from the choice of land and water source, to the selection of offshoots and suitable plant material, to planting spacing and density, to the management of irrigation, fertilisation and pollination, and through to bunch and fruit management, harvest and post-harvest handling.
Our aim is not high yield alone, but yield that is both high and stable — with the greatest possible proportion of fruit meeting quality and market-value standards.
Studying the palm and its yield
We regard each palm as a production unit to be understood and managed, not merely a tree within a farm. Accordingly, we study:
- Growth and yield rates of the palm across the years.
- The development of production from establishment through to full bearing capacity.
- The relationship between bunch count, crop load and fruit quality.
- The effect of irrigation, nutrition and climatic conditions on yield.
- The factors governing fruit size, colour and ripening.
- The causes of defects that reduce the market value of the fruit.
- The share of marketable production, and sorting and packing rates.
- Differences between varieties, regions and growing conditions.
- The cost of producing a kilogram, and its relation to quality and yield.
Toward maximum yield and highest quality
We apply the findings of these studies and field observations to refine our cultivation and operating methods from one season to the next.
We hold that achieving the highest possible yield per palm does not necessarily deliver the best economic return. Increasing crop load, for instance, may affect fruit size and quality; and focusing on size alone may not produce the best commercial outcome. We therefore work to balance:
Palm productivity × Fruit quality × Share of marketable produce × Production cost × Market value
A particular interest in modern varieties
Alongside Medjool, we study and cultivate modern date palm varieties, tracking their production and market characteristics and their suitability for differing agricultural conditions.
We do not treat a variety as a trade name alone; we study its actual performance under field conditions — its growth, yield, fruit quality, agricultural requirements and economic value.
Sustainable farming and environmental care
At QUTTOUF we hold that the quality of the date cannot be separated from the health of the soil, the water and the environment surrounding the farm.
From this commitment, we work to develop cultivation methods that reduce the environmental impact of agricultural practice — increasing reliance on biological fertilisers and inputs wherever they are suitable and effective, and reducing dependence on mineral fertilisers and chemical pesticides to the limits that the farm’s actual needs allow.
We also work to raise the efficiency of water and energy use, drawing on modern technologies for monitoring agricultural requirements so that resources are used more efficiently.
Production that respects human health and the environment
Among our goals is to produce high-quality dates with the lowest possible level of agricultural residues, adhering to safe agricultural practice and the prescribed pre-harvest intervals for the materials used.
We verify product quality through the necessary analyses and testing, supporting our aim of reaching dates free of pesticide residues where this is confirmed by accredited laboratory results.
This approach is not a marketing device for us, but part of QUTTOUF’s commitment to protecting the environment, to consumer health, and to the long-term sustainability of the farm.
Field experience first
QUTTOUF’s expertise has grown out of actual work in date palm farms and the monitoring of agricultural and production operations season after season.
For this reason, the content and services we offer do not rest on theory alone; we consistently seek to connect agricultural knowledge with field experience and actual results.
We believe the best way to advance date palm cultivation is to learn from every season, measure the results, compare them, and then refine our methods for the season that follows.
Agriculture, management and technology
Alongside our agricultural specialisation, we are developing an administrative and digital system that supports more precise management of agricultural projects.
Daily data on irrigation, fertilisation, labour, expenditure, production and more are not merely records; they can be turned into an instrument for agricultural and managerial decision-making. From this the QUTTOUF platform emerged, bringing together:
Agricultural expertise + Farm management + Data + Technology
Makkah Farms
QUTTOUF takes part in managing, operating and developing projects specialising in Medjool cultivation — among them Makkah Farms, where we apply a philosophy grounded in long-term farm planning, treating infrastructure, irrigation, energy, cultivation, operations and production as interconnected parts of a single project.
Our aim is to build farms capable of reaching high productivity and stable quality, under clear and measurable economic management.
Our vision
To be among the Egyptian entities specialising in the cultivation and production of date palms — particularly Medjool and modern varieties — and to contribute to the development of applied knowledge in this field through experimentation, measurement and the analysis of results.
We seek to make every palm a source of knowledge, every season an opportunity to learn, and every figure on the farm an instrument for better decisions.
Our mission
We do not simply grow date palms. We study the palm, measure its yield, and work to bring it to the greatest possible production — at the highest quality and market value, while protecting the environment and sustaining its resources.
